The Chiang Mai Chinese Merchants’ Association met three evenings per week to socialize, play music and eat. There were about twelve musicians and about as many sitting around listening and chatting. It was a relaxed atmosphere and the music usually went on from 7:00 to 10:00 pm, after which cooked rice was served to all.
